There are many great reasons to look at military careers. Military jobs are some of the best in the world, and you can get an excellent education while in the military, not to mention the things like resourcefulness, self-sufficiency and teamwork that you learn by being part of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or National Guard. But some people have a poor idea of what it really means to join the military.
1. If you think that the military is something to join if you’re strong and feel like bullying others, you have the wrong idea.
2. If you think the military is a great place to not have to think hard while you sit around flexing your muscles and firing weapons, you need to do some research. While soldiers are tough and strong, they’re also intelligent, highly trained and able to adapt to changing situations rapidly.
There are career fields in the United States Army Reserves and National Guard for YOU! Click HERE for Details.
3. If you think the military is a place to go to get a great education while just getting by doing an easy job, it’s not the place for you. You will get a top notch education in the military, but you’ll be trained and skilled, and you’ll contribute to the smooth operation of your team.
Ok, now the truth! Perhaps the truest validator of ‘not’ joining, you must ask yourself: Are you able to follow orders? Are you willing to have your life ‘dictated’ by others? In other words, you’ll have to be able to place your ‘country’ first before your own agenda. This task is becoming largely more difficult in today’s world of self gratification. Enter Comments Below

I have a passion for joining the US Marine because i believe in United States of America and its policies. I’m not a citizen but can there be a way? Can my dreams become a reality? |

You don’t have to join the military to be patriotic! I am veteran but what really pisses me off is when people make it seem like the only ones who are patriotic are people in the military. I think the true patriots are those who stand up for what’s right and speak out when the government is wrong. THOSE are the people who care most about our country. OORAH!!!!! |

The GI is truly America’s Finest. When you serve it doesn’t matter if you are red or blue, black or white, Democratic or Republican, you are a American giving something back to your country. My proudest moments were wearing the uniform of my country. Ret SMsgt |

I’m a veteran and admittedly, I joined first and foremost because I wanted a ‘specific’ job and career. The money and doing it for my country was there and sounded nice… but it was mainly because they offered the right career for me. In fact, I would had join for free just to learn this skill set of doing this job. GI Billl, free vacation, free housing and all that was extra benefits. The other benefit was joining for the ‘adventure’. If you’re young and searching for that adventure and can learn a job that will pay well long after your service, go for it! |
