If you’ve ever wanted to become a Navy Seal, then you’ve probably done some research into what’s required of these soldiers. First, you have to be a man aged 28 or younger with excellent vision. Poor vision is enough to keep you out of Navy Seals training. You also have to pass a variety of tests to even qualify for the training. And once you qualify for Navy Seals training, then the really grueling tests begins. These are tests that not all trainees will pass. The first few weeks of Navy Seals training, as hard as they are, are really just preparing you for the hardest parts of the training.
Week 4 is known as Hell Week. During this week, you’ll be pushed to your absolute limits. Sleep deprivation and exhaustion are part of the training, as you’re allowed only 3 to 4 hours of sleep the entire week. You’re forced to put your body through incredible tests of strength and endurance, from heavy lifting and physical burdens while exhausted, to frigid waters and extreme conditions.

This 4th “hell” week is the week that will generally make some recruits give up on the training. Those that survive it become the most elite soldiers in the world–Navy Seals.
Successfully completing Hell week itself is quite an achievement. The mental pressure is equal to the physical. This is also a time that the instructors can ‘test’ prospects who may not fit into the teams. For a few the secret may be going on ‘automatic’ during Hell week. Meaning, you get to a delusional mental state of ‘not caring’… in other words, not feeling all the pain. This occurs after a full day or so of no sleep and incredible amounts of physical activity. In other words, walking and cold water swimming ‘zombies’. Enter Comments Below

You have to recieve orders to ‘BUD/S” (Basic Underwater Demolition Seal training). Talk to your recruiter before enlisting. Also, their are three phases to BUD/S. As the article says, the fourth week is ‘Hell Week’ which concludes the first phase of training. It is this first phase that focuses on ‘physical’ abilities and endurance. If you’re fortunate enough to make it through Hell Week then phase two and three focuses on diving and then explosives. Many recruits either quit or let go even during phase two and three. Make it through BUD/S maybe the highlight of your life! |
