Musician Tippin Supports Troops Overseas

Musician Tippin Supports Troops OverseasCountry Music Star Visit And Entertains Servicemembers

There is an old saying.  “Freedom is not totally free, it comes with a price.”  It may be an old saying, but it is very true.  Country music superstar Aaron Tippen learned that lesson when he
was a young lad at the hand of his Father, Willis?

Willis Tippin served in the military, and was a deeply patriotic man even after leaving the service.

“His patriotism spread into me,” said Tippen.  “I have a very great appreciation for our freedom and I realize what our Servicemembers are doing that is responsible for it,” said Tippen.

Tippen had an early hit song that earned him a spot entertaining the troops back in 1991 with Entertainer and USO tour favorite, Bob Hope.  Tippen wrote the song “You have to stand for Something,” and traveled to the Persian Gulf after writing the song.

Each of the last three Thanksgiving holidays Tippen has traveled to the Middle East to be with the troops.  He has remarked at the progress and advances that the military has made in the War on Terror, and each trip gives him a new admiration for all those soldiers serving in the U.S. Armed Forces

One Iraqi young boy Tippen met while on his 2007 trip. The young lad had suffered facial wounds and injuries during a roadside bombing, and was in the hospital recovering.  Tippen saw him in the hospital.

Tippen was happy to autograph a picture for the young boy.  The boy listened as a translator told him who Tippen was, and then he got up, came over, and gave Tippen a huge hug and a kiss.  “That totally surprised me and floored me completely,” Tippen said.
