Navy_Reserve_SealIf you currently have a full-time civilian career, but also have a strong desire to serve your country, you may want to check out what the US Navy Reserve has for you.

The Navy Reserve offers excellent pay and benefits while continuing your life in the civilian world. The Navy Reserve is comprised of three components of service:

1. The Ready Reserve is composed of the Selected Reserve forces and the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). The Selected Reserve are designated as reservists who can be recalled to Active Duty. They receive many of the same benefits of Active Duty Sailors. The Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) are sailors who were previously in an active duty component or a component of the Selected Reserve. IRR Reservists receive no pay or benefits, but can receive pay or benefits should they volunteer for specific active service duties.

2. The Standby Reserve is made up of Reservists who have transferred from the Ready Reserve. They are used to provide manpower for specific skills should they be mobilized. They are not required to train and are not part of any specific unit.

3. Retired Reserve-Inactive Reservists are Reservists who are drawing retired pay or are qualified for retired pay upon reaching age 60.
