Items To Look For In A Banking Partner

Items To Look For In A Banking PartnerBanking does not have to be a grueling affair.  It is important to look for things you value when you are shopping around for a banking partner. Some of the things to look for include:
Compassionate Costs: Fees and extra cost can eat up your balance. Look for banks that waive some or part of the traditional fees.  Some banks have little or no fees; others will refund ATM fees you are charged.  Whatever they have available, investigate and contrast the compassionate costs available in your area. Responsive Service: Make sure you take the time to call the bank you are considering.  How long were you placed on hold?  Was the service considerate, and could you find out the answer to a question you needed swiftly?  You may think that this is not an important step, but many people sign up for service based solely on cost only to find they are with a bank with poor customer service.

Competitive Rates:  How much are the rates that the bank pays on savings or checking?  Is the rates charged to members for loans better than you can find elsewhere?  Contrast and compare rates to try and find the best deal. Rewards:  Does the bank you are considering have any cash back programs?  Does it offer other rate incentives such as debit or credit card combined points? Investigate the reward programs that are available.  Perks: Most banks now offer some form of online banking, or free checks, or both. But is there any additional services offered?   Some additional services are free fund transfers, free bank checks or Money orders, and other such services.  Reputation:  Call the local chamber of Commerce, as well as the Better Business Bureau in your area, and ask about complaints regarding the bank you are considering.  It may seem silly, but it potentially can save you in the long run.

Protective Measures: With the incidence of online banking fraud, and identity theft, it is a wise precaution to ask about what measures the bank employs to protect your data.  Most banks require a browser with 128-bit data encryption, but its smart to ask to be sure.  Other banks will also offer services to safeguard data, or monitor your credit report for free.

Many banks will take the time to explain how and what security measures they employ.  A huge warning flag is sent up if when you are inquiring the bank seems hesitant or not cooperative about providing answers to the questions you pose.  If you can find a bank that will provide excellent services as well as quality customer service then you have likely found a quality-banking partner for yourself.
