Ideas For Onboard Relaxation And Fun

Ideas For Onboard Relaxation And FunSo you know where you want to go on a Cruise, and you have all your vacation plans set?  No?  Well, there are always a few things people forget to think about.  One of the best things a person can do before they go on vacation is to write down some things they want to do.

As a Servicemember, you earn your time off.  If you take a few minutes in the weeks up to actually leaving, and write down some things you have “wanted to do for a while” you will have a chance to maybe do some things that will relax you even more.  Besides, when is the last time you really had a chance to sit back, and read a book?

Here are some of the lesser thought of things to do when you are on a Cruise:
Read. No fair taking along the most recent service manual. You should select a couple of books, if you don’t have any visit the library and check some out.  Reading gives you a chance to reflect, and relax.  And it allows you to slow down; so much of our lives is rush rush rush.  So take a good book with you, no matter where you go.

Eat.  It all depends on your priorities, but most people can afford to take a chill pill and eat some good food while on break from the daily military rat race. You don’t have to eat out the whole restaurant, but at the same time, if you decide you want another helping of oysters (but normally would not), Live a little.  It’s the small indulgences that we give ourselves permission for that make the discipline of everyday life so much sweeter and worthwhile.

Take in a Sunrise or Sunset, or BOTH. Yes, you say you see them all the time.  But when is the last time you WATCHED the sun set.  Or Rise.  And just marveled at the splendor of it all?  It depends, if the cruise climate is very cold, you may want to do your watching from your cabin, but even then, just taking the time to breathe in the sun, works wonders for the soul.  Or if your Cruise ship has a hot tub on deck, watch the sunset or sunrise from there.

Nap. When is the last time you took a nap in the middle of the day?  Years?  A short nap between activities can rejuvenate you, and you will realize that Pancho Villa was maybe onto something here.

Sing Karaoke.  Grab your friends and go show how much you cannot carry a tune. Most ships have some form of Karaoke.  Its fun, its different, and its free, most times.  Of course your friends may insist you buy a round, but hey, it’s worth it to see Harry sing “Oklahoma”.
