If you are looking for training or education aimed at learning about the seas, or leading to a career in the military, one place to seek it is at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. It has offered training and a college education for over fifty years to young men and women. It is a school known for teaching discipline, skills, knowledge and experience and has taught a great many students who have went on to become leaders in life.
People who graduate from the Maritime Academy serve their country in the U.S. Forces Armed Service, or go on into merchant marine or civilian maritime careers. Many of its students continue on and attend graduate, or advanced civilian or military professional schools. Navigation, discipline, history, there are quite a number of things that you can learn and apply. Plus, with a college degree from the Maritime Academy, you will be able to pursue a career in any of the services as an officer. Each of the branches of the U.S. Military requires that their officers have a college degree before offering them a commission.
The United States Merchant Marine is a huge vital link to our nation during times of crisis. They literally are part of the National Security, and during wartime they provide much needed men, materials and supplies to support our military and civilian efforts both at home and abroad. The lions share of the people that staff the U.S. Merchant marine fleet have come from the United States Maritime Academy.
