If you believe you are a diehard patriot, perhaps you won’t hesitate to put country before self. And one excellent way to prove you do is to join either of the two branches of the National Guard – the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
What role does the National Guard play?
In addition to their peacetime duties, each branch of the National Guard has specific roles entrusted to them during times of internal strife or external aggression. The Army National Guard is entrusted with maintenance of internal security, while the Air National Guard handles the nation’s air defenses. The National Guard has presence in all 50 US States, including 4 US-administered territories.
What can you contribute?
The very act of joining either of the two branches of the National Guard is a contribution in itself. By joining, you become part of a mission that includes a wide range of activities that are aimed at maintaining peace and security at national, state and local levels.
Here are some of the multiples tasks that the two National Guard branches perform, AND which you can be very much a part of.
– Teaming up with all branches of the US Military in times of war by providing complementary, backup support.
– Managing humanitarian missions, including building and supervision of relief camps.
– Assisting disaster management teams for rehabilitation of victims following such natural calamities as storms, floods, fires, earthquakes, etc.
– Encouraging racial tolerance between different ethnic groups of US citizens.
– Dealing with civil strike in partnership with local state and federal law enforcement agency.
– Controlling illegal immigration, human trafficking and drugs.
