Army Specialized Career – Imagery Analyst

Satellite_imagery_aThere are many careers in the United States Army which make use of the unique interests and skills you may possess. Working as an Imagery Analyst in the Army Reserves or regular Army includes these specifics:

What is Expected:

You will be responsible for the aerial images captured by photographic and digital aerial imagery. This information will be used to support combat operations, design plans for strategic defense and help with disaster relief efforts. You will provide all necessary information to Army personnel about the enemy forces, battle areas and in supporting combat operations. The information you provide will help others to do their job better.
The Training You Receive:
There is extensive training involved in becoming an Imagery Analyst. This includes the standard 9 weeks of basic training. You will then be required to complete 21 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. On-the-Job as well as live field work and classroom training are essential and include:
– Map and Chart preparation – Overhead and imagery analysis – Intelligence report preparation – Collection of overhead and aerial imagery through proper planning – Regular and advanced geospatial-Intelligence product preparation – Analysis of geospatial data, moving and fixed target indicators – Using imagery exploitation software and computer systems

Private Sector Careers:
Outside of the military, your training will make you perfect for many government related jobs. These jobs include the Central Intelligence Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Those looking to work outside of government jobs can find employment based on their training in these fields: - Cartographer - Surveyor - Surveying Technician

I was Photo Interpreter(Image) while serving in the US Army during the 60′s
Are there any jobs outside the military to assist the government in this field.
