Oftentimes, making a choice between the different branches of the US Military can be, confusing and problematic, particularly in the absence of in-depth information on each. Moreover, if your main reason to join is purely financial, you’ll be in for a surprise. Rank for rank, the pay and benefits offered by each branch of the US Military are more or less the same, except in the nature of experiences and training programs they offer.
What’s more important?
When you are in the process of deciding on which military branch to join, keep one priceless fact in mind. At the outset, WHICH branch to join is NOT what matters … WHAT matters most to your country, people and government, is the very act of joining the US Military.
Remember, even though all branches of the US Military are fully independent, they are also well integrated and fiercely loyal and supportive of each other in wartime, with the same commitment and zeal, as they do in peacetime. So, whichever branch you join, your commitment must not be confined only to the branch … it should extend to the entire US Military.
What excites you more?
You need be reminded that each military branch offers its own set of exciting experiences. If you wish to build an administrative or technical-related career, the ground support, on-base services of all branches will offer you more opportunities than one to get you there.
Alternatively, if you are looking for a more active and adventurous career, you could join the LAND-based US Army and US Marine Corps; the AIR-based US Air Force; or the SEA-based US Navy. So, decide which area excites you the most – land, air or sea – and then pursue your dream to achieve it.
