Make Your Mark As An Air National Guardsman

While thousands of candidates head to other branches of the US Military for enlistment, you can be different by heading in the opposite direction to make your mark in the Air National Guard. Either way, whichever military branch you join, the purpose is the same … serving your country with honor.

 

What is the Air National Guard?

 

The Air National Guard (ANG) is an important component of the US Military and plays a critical role in defense. It is entrusted with maintaining the country’s multiple and technologically-advanced air defense systems, and keeping them in a continuous state of operational readiness to thwart any airborne threat or intrusion.

 

What are the basic requirements?

 

Like all other US Military branches, the Air National Guards has its own set of basic requirements for enlistment eligibility. You must be a bona fide US citizen and between 17 and 39 years of age. You’ll need to pass a comprehensive, Entrance Physical Examination and medical, as well as the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Training Battery) test. You’ll also need clearance trough a thorough background check, and possess no on-going law proceedings, or other violations against you.

 

What is the post-eligibility process?

 

When basic requirements have been met successfully, your authorized recruiter will assist in choosing the ideal position of your choice from the variety on offer, at the time you become eligible. No sooner such a position is confirmed, you’ll be sworn in as a full-fledged enlisted member of the Air National Guard.

 

What follows enlistment eligibility?

 

All entry-level Air National Guardsmen must successfully complete an approximately 8 1/2 week Basic Military Training program, following which they are required to attend Technical School for training in the career fields they’ve chosen. Finally, successful Air National Guard candidates will be required to commit to one weekend of work a month, and an additional few weeks a year to attend re-orientation programs, for a combined, minimum commitment of 6 years.
