Iraqi Air Force Training School ExpandsCoalition Instructors And Advisors Assist With New School Taji, Iraq There has been an active Iraqi Air Force Training program for some time now, staffed with instructors from U.S. and Coalition Forces.  The school teaches a variety of Aircraft and aviation courses, including basic aircraft maintenance.  Recently it was expanded to welcome new Iraqi Air Force Warrant officer school graduates, in an attempt to further train and equip the newly reconstituted Iraqi Air Force. The advanced classroom training plus hands on opportunities to work on aircraft has been a boon to the students. It allows them a chance to put into immediate use the concepts that they have been learning in the classroom. “The structure and classroom work is a brand new learning situation for most of these students,” said Major Scott Marshall.  Major Marshall is the U.S. Air Force Commander and head instructor at the Iraqi Air Force Training School. “We select different course curriculum based on the ongoing needs of the Iraqi Air Force. As the structure and makeup of their Air Forces change, we adjust,” said Major Marshall.  The courses currently being taught are Air Intelligence Operations, Aviation Fuels, Aircraft Structures, Aircraft Maintenance supervisor, Firefighter Apprentice, and Aircraft Fundamentals. One of the new concepts the school is working on is to enable its instructors to help teach English as they teach these courses. This makes communication and learning a great deal easier. Defense Language Institute instructors are working with the aviation school to make this a reality.
