Army Major General Lynch Details Only Three Attacks Daily
The Coalition Forces have been able to get more creative in helping government with its rebuilding and restructuring efforts. Much of their efforts have been to try and help with micro grants and other assistance looking to build jobs.
The Commander of Multi National Division Center Iraq, Army Major General Rick Lynch spoke to reporters this last week. He talked about when his soldiers arrived on scene in Iraq in March 2007 there were nearly twenty five attacks a day on Iraqi and Coalition forces in the Area.
The rate of attacks now is about two or three a day on average, according to General Lynch. “I am able to spend thirty percent of my day on security issues, and the other seventy percent of my time in helping rebuild Iraq. This is solely because of the increase in security, it is wonderful,†said Major General Lynch.
Just because security has improved does not mean that it is being ignored. On the contrary, the soldiers under General Lynch are ever vigilant and ready for action should the need arise. But the conditions have improved so much that much of the time and resources can be devoted to helping the Iraqi community.
Recently the Soldiers in Major General Lynch’s command launched Operation Marne Thunderbolt. It has been very successful. Air Force Planes helped out with aerial bombardment in known IED areas, which resulted in a number of secondary explosions. The secondary explosions were signs that there was an IED or other explosive cache on that location.
