Saving lives and improving the quality of life of Navy personnel demands that a military physician work diligently during peacetime and in war zones. Medical services are not only for military personnel, a military physician employed in the National Guard often must provide care for civilians in emergencies. Services that a Navy physician must provide include emergency surgeries, routine medical exams, pre and post surgical treatments and general care for minor illnesses or injuries.

Navy Doctor Practice Requirements

Medical school and licensing is required in order to become a physician within the Navy. Enlistment in the military will defer repayment of loans for medical graduate school or aid in payment of classes with military scholarships. (Click here for more information on Military Scholarships.)

Upon graduation from a medical graduate school, the military physician applicant must obtain current state licensing to practice medicine. US Navy physician applicants must also adhere to additional requirements for all Navy enlists, including age requirements, training and physical examinations.

Putting Skills and Requirements to use After Completion of Navy Active Duty

Medical school requirements before entering the Navy Medical Corps will make the physician immediately available for civilian medical positions after active duty ends. An applicant with medical service experience in the Navy or other military branch has an edge over other candidates, ensuring the potential employer that the applicant is able to work under pressure.  So if you’re truly ready for a real career that will make a difference, click here!
