Every branch of the military, from the National Guard to the Navy, requires police officers in order to keep the peace, both at home and all around the world.

Instruction of National Guard Police



During the first weeks of military training, supervisors will keep a watchful eye out for those trainees that they believe will be best suited as a National Guard or Navy police officer. Any individual that is chosen will be given at least an additional 12 weeks of military training. This training will involve training within a classroom, as well as field training, in order to prepare the trainee for their position as a military police officer.



Law Enforcement Positions within the National Guard



Military police officers have many different duties to perform. National Guard police officers may be required to guard military base entrances and patrol areas along the base, while US Navy police may patrol the borders of United States waterways. Military police are needed not only on military bases, but also in times of war on an active battlefield. Many individuals who have served as police officers in the military, have gone on to later have extremely prosperous careers as a civilian police officer.
