No matter how large or small an organization is, in order to be successful they must purchase supplies, equipment, and procure third party service providers to perform a variety of tasks. This fact is also true of the Navy and National Guard. Procurement specialists take this task and expand it to epic proportions, ensuring that the hundreds of thousands of active duty and reservists have everything they need in order to perform their jobs well. What Does a Procurement Specialist Do?



A procurement specialist is responsible for providing support by ensuring that the military maintains adequate supplies, materials and equipment used in routine and mission critical capacities. Individuals who excel at math, organization, computer skills and can work well under pressure do well in this position.  A typical procurement specialist can expect to: keep financial records, order, store and check stock levels of military issue gear, prepare inventory reports, keep logs up to date, operate computer systems that provide logistic support, as well as operate post facilities both on shore and off.



While most procurement procurement specialists do not have an undergradute degree, the military offers advanced on the job training, hands on experience,and formal classroom instruction aimed at providing you the best opportunity to excel in this position.
