Navy Submarine Officers Go 20000 Leagues Under the Sea

Searching for a career that will carry you to distant worlds and show you fantastic adventures? The US Navy offers Submarine Officers the chance to explore the world’s oceans and investigate all that exists in its exciting underwater world. Navy Submarine Officers are charged with the task of making sure the systems on a submarine work correctly, as well as operating the navigation systems and taking part in the general day today operations of the vessel.



Training for an Underwater Adventure



Once a Navy Candidate has finished Officer Candidate School, the next step for Submarine Officers is extensive training that will include both classroom studies and field experience. NNPTC training, also known as Naval Nuclear Power Training Command puts enrollees into a intensive level study graduate-level training course lasting for 24 weeks. This training offers analytical comprehension of the workings of nuclear propulsion. Nuclear Power Training or NPTU is the next phase of training for Submarine Officers. This training takes place in either Charleston, SC or Ballston Spa, NY. Both of the facilities in these cities offer hands-on training with operating reactor prototypes. At the end of this training, individuals will have achieved the title of Engineering Officer of the Watch. Officers are also able to further their training as a Navy Submarine Officer.
