Why You Should be a Navy Chaplain

There are many things which the citizens of the United States hold dear to their hearts. One of the many principles upon which the country was founded was the ability to practice any religion one chooses. This concept is alive and well within the United States Navy. Making it possible for those on board vessels to continue to pray in a manner in which they are accustomed is the job of the Navy Chaplain.



Varying Duties



As a Chaplain in the US Navy, you will not only be asked to perform religious services on holy days and for Sunday service. You will also be expected to assist those in need of moral counseling and to perform such ceremonies as weddings and more. The duties you will be expected to perform will depend on your assignment and the requests of those who operate within the unit you operate within.

Getting Started



Those who already have a degree in theology you will be able to get started in the US Navy and have the government pay off your student education costs while you perform your duties. For those looking to become a chaplain while in the Navy, you can get started as a Chaplain’s Aide and go to school so that you can learn what is necessary to become a Chaplain.
