MNF Troops Conduct Consequence Management Session
The best efforts of Coalition soldiers are sometimes simply talking to the local people. After a particularly harsh assassination of a local leader, Soldiers from the Multi National Division- Baghdad met with local Iraqi Citizens to discuss how to deal with security and other issues.
“Most of all we wanted to show respect and our condolences for their loss,†said 1st Lieutenant Marc Dudek. Lieutenant Dudek is the platoon leader of 2nd Platoon, and was a participant in the consequence management mission.
“We visited to discuss how to make things better, and to show we want to help and bring stability and security to their town following this tragic event,†said Lieutenant Dudek.
The ongoing efforts to work directly on issues of concern to the community is to try and keep the Iraqi citizens know they are supported as they stand up against the terrorist insurgents. “We intend to work with the Fourteenth Ramadan Community to give them all the support they need, and make sure they are not feeling intimidation from this assassination attack,†stated Lieutenant Dudek.
Local Leaders were supportive of the effort, and pledged their support to continue to stand against insurgent and terrorist activity in and around their town. “All that I want is for my children to be safe, to be able to attend school, and return home without fear of attack,†said one of the local leaders who attended the consequence sessions.
During the meetings, Iraqi Leaders spoke about the assassination and how they viewed it not only as a personal attack on the slain leader, but also an attack on their community at large. “We take these attacks personally also, as we feel part of the community,†said Lieutenant Dudek.
