IED And Plastique Explosives Seized

IED And Plastique Explosives SeizedJurf Nadaf Cache Discovered And Destroyed

A large amount of explosives were discovered recently by local citizens on foot patrol near Jurf Nadar, a town not to far away from Baghdad.  Over thirty-seven blocks of C4 or plastique explosives, along with fourteen EFP’s, and several hundred rounds of different caliber ammunition were discovered.

A member of the Local Concerned Citizen group led soldiers from Troop C, 3rd Squadron, and 1st Cavalry Regiment to the cache on February 8th. The member of the CLC group was a member of the “Sons of Iraq” group, and was helpful in the discovery and eventual resolution of the explosives.

The CLC groups have been working quite hard to assist coalition troops with their security and safety patrols.  Many caches of ammunition and explosives have been discovered, and individuals that are affiliated with the terrorists or insurgents have been revealed to coalition forces as well.

The group “sons of Iraq” is a recent addition that has grown out of the CLC groups. They are a splinter group, made up of members of the CLC groups that are very hard-core patriots, committed to seeing Iraq interests advanced.  Both the CLC groups and the Sons of Iraq groups have been very helpful to Coalition troops in recent weeks.  Much of the current successes in security operations can be attributed to the assistance and tips received from the CLC groups.

Groups of insurgents as well as weapons caches have been pointed out to coalition troops, and the overall effect of the CLC groups has been quite large, and a positive one for coalition efforts.
