Finding A Military Friendly SchoolYou should first examine and decide what degree will match your career goals. There are many options in finding the degree that is right for your goals and for your intended career. After that then the next step is to decide where you want to attend. There are schools that are very friendly and open to your attending them. Most schools are open and encouraging, but some schools make the process a lot easier and therefore are more military friendly. Things to watch for when choosing a military friendly school are numerous, and they include: -Available degree options you can complete. -The policy for DANTE and CLEP testing credits. -The different policies for Military and ACE credits and how they are counted. -Cost of their tuition when compared to other institutions the same size. -Accreditation and ability to transfer credits. The secret is to find the school that is what you want, in the area and price that will fit your lifestyle. There are literally hundreds, perhaps thousands of schools that could be considered military friendly, and you can find out a lot of information about schools on the Internet. When you contact a school normally someone in the admissions office, or an admissions counselor will then contact you by mail, phone or email. At that time it is a good idea to have a list of questions about things you wish to know. Find the Military Career right for YOU ! Click here for more Information. Asking smart questions is as simple as being organized. Most of your questions will likely fall into four general areas- Fees and Tuition, General Course information, Non Traditional Credit Opportunities, and the schools Accreditation and associations with other schools. Fees And Tuition- Ask regarding the breakdown of tuition per credit, and how much any special fees are. Special fees are like lab fees, administration fees, or any other fees in addition to tuition that you are required to pay. Some types of Tuition assistance and financial aid have limits to what they will pay on fees. TA is also capped at an upper limit of $250 dollars a credit hour so its good to know what the tuition per credit is. Inquire about wee waivers, tuition vouchers, discounts, and scholarship and work programs for veterans. General Course Information: How long are courses? Are the courses delivered in the classroom, online, or both? How do students interact with the teacher? What are course grades based on? These are some of the effective General Course Questions. Accreditation- Make sure your school is either nationally or regionally accredited. This is important; it has to be to be eligible for TA and the GI Bill. Non-Traditional Credit- Ask about the schools policy on accepting CLEP and DANTES tests for credit. Depending on if you have a lot or a little credit type experience, you may not weigh this as much as the other questions.
