Many people wonder how long they have to serve in the National Guard. Generally speaking, your enlistment period is eight years. That being said, you may opt for a three or six year term and then spend the rest in Individual Ready Reserve.

I was married for 13 years to a man who retired from the army national guard as a lt. colonel. We divorced and I have not remarried. Am i eligible to carry supplementary insurance to medicare thru the military? I am 68 yo and on a very limited fixed income. I would very much appreciate your assistance. Sandra D. Harwell |
