150 Soldiers Get Heros Welcome

US Military Members Thrilled for their Hero’s WelcomeThis last week, around 150 members of the thirty-first Brigade of the eighty-second Airborne arrived back in home in Huntsville after a year overseas in Iraq. They enjoyed a rousing welcome home party in the Johnson Road Armory upon their return. One of the soldiers returning this week was Sergeant Timothy Nye from Limestone County, who serves as a mechanic for the military police vehicles. He was most recently stationed in Tikrit, and had been stationed in Iraq for a year now. Sergeant Nye may not have been in a direct combat situation, but his family and friends were still quite worried about his health and safety.

According to Nye’s mother, it has been an extremely long year for his entire family. Everyone has been wondering on a daily basis whether or not Sergeant Nye would be okay. Wondering how he was feeling. Tim Nye originally joined the Alabama National guard in 1994, before he had even graduated high school in 1995. He was married only six months after graduating high school. For the past twelve years, the armed forces have been a very large part of his life, but now he is at a crossroads and has to decide whether or not to continue within the service.

Luckily, Sergeant Nye has been granted ninety days to cool off and relax with his family before he has to decide what will come next in his future as a soldier. If he does decide to leave the military, then his enlistment has already ended. Otherwise, he will re-enlist after his cool-off period.
