If you are interested in the Army Reserve, there are several different programs that are available to help with your education. The Army Reserve Voluntary Education Services program is a group of programs that are administered by the DoD that help give soldiers in the Army Reserve different educational and vocational opportunities. Army Reserve Soldiers that participate can enhance their own situation while benefiting the readiness and retention of the Army Reserve program at large.
Some of the different Army Reserve Education programs are involved in different education areas and support opportunities, and these programs include the following:
-Defense Activity Non Traditional Education Support, or DANTES, Exam credit program.
-Montgomery GI Bill, for Selected Reserve and REAP.
-Troops to Teachers Program, and Spouse to Teachers program.
-Support for licensure and Certification in different job areas and zones.
-Credit given for previous military experience.
-American Army Council on Education Registry Transcript System support (AARTS).
Many people enlist in the military specifically to receive help in going to school, and the U.S. Army recognizes this, and is supportive of these efforts. Education Service specialists will help guide and give assistance in planning for Army Reservists desiring to be more competitive, and to better their own military careers, as well as setting and reaching their educational goals. The Army partners with DANTES to help assist with license, certification and other professional support, as well as providing opportunities for credit by taking specific examinations. By taking and passing select exams, the soldier can achieve credits through the DANTES program.
Each of the five branches of the Armed Forces has a variation of the TA tuition assistance program, and the Army is no different in that respect. Army Tuition Assistance is paid to qualifying reserve and active duty members and helps with up to 100 percent tuition support for college courses that are taken during off duty periods. Armed Forces Tuition assistance is money that is normally paid directly to the college or university, or institution involved in the training, and covers tuition and select required fees up to 100 percent.

Before you register for college, be sure to review the offerings available under the CLEP exam program. You may qualify for credit based on what you already know, and if you think you can pass some of the CLEP exams, then you should try and takes some of them. You can only pass if you attempt one or more, and if you do pass then you save money by bypassing some college courses that you can get credit for by examination.
