F18 Super Hornet Fighter PilotIf you are a student headed for a bachelor’s degree, and are interested in becoming a member of the United States Air Force, then you may qualify to become a commissioned officer. There are several routes to take, one is the ROTC reserve officer-training program, or you can attend the Air Force Service Academy, or you are able to attend the OCS Officer Candidate training.

Either way, you need to have a degree in order to become a commissioned Air Force officer.
If you wish to become an Air Force SC 11F1, which is a entry level/Student pilot, then you need to be able to accomplish some minimum qualifications. The Air Force could not be the world leader in air and space without the dedication and skills that are found in its pilots and flight specialists.

Air Force Pilots fly the most advanced aircraft in the world, and they do so with skill and style. To become an air force pilot it is all about the education. Air Force Officers are highly trained, and it starts with the individual. You will find the dedication to education and gaining new skills a buzzword in the Air Force. Pilot- As a pilot you are responsible for flying aircraft and commanding crews to accomplish a variety of missions. You are responsible for airlifting crews, for aircraft related missions, and for training evolutions. You will demonstrate leadership character and skills as you grow and learn to command crews, and to accomplish a variety of missions. Each different type of pilot training specializes in different skills sets and different aircraft skills.

To enter the Pilot field you should have an undergraduate degree that specializes in mathematics, physical sciences and other science related subjects. Training or education in management and administration is also desirable. For entry into the Pilot flight training area, you will attend Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training. The Air Force will train you initially in basic of air navigation, theory of flight, flying directives, aircraft aircrew operating procedures and various mission tactics. You will also study meteorology and other related subjects. The Pilot Air Force Training Field includes all rated Pilot Officers to direct or conduct flying operations, including combat support, combat, training, and search and rescue missions. Included are staff and supervisory functions such as contingency planning, policy formulation, and inspection.

Finally, after you are trained as a basic pilot, you will attend an aircraft specific school for advanced training. This is where you will fly your specific aircraft, such as the F18 Super Hornet. After several years of preparation, finally you will be able to perform and serve as a fighter pilot.
