Job Description

If you decide that this career is the right decision, you will soon find yourself working as an Officer in the Navy Dental Corps.

In addition to caring for sailors, marines, and other service members, as well as their families, you will maintain a flexible work schedule to ensure that everybody gets the attention they deserve without delay.

Along the way, you will work with some of the most advanced dental equipment in the world including but not limited to:

- Patented forward deployable dental dressing

- Innovative dental restoration materials

- Digital x-ray systems

- Video teleconferencing

Some of your specific responsibilities as a Navy Dental Officer include: perform regular checkups, offer preventative care, fill cavities, and tend to dental emergencies.

When you become a Navy Dental Officer you are more than a dentist. Instead, you have the ability to choose a specialty that suits your interests. Some of the most common specialties include:

Your Work Environment

As a Navy Dental Officer, you could be stationed at one of more than 250 bases and facilities throughout the world. No matter if you are serving at home or in a far away country – such as Germany of Japan – you will be putting your skills and knowledge to good use.

You may also find yourself providing dental care aboard one of two hospital ships: USNS Mercy or USNS Comfort.

No matter where you are with your current dental career, there is an educational opportunity that can help you advance your learning without adding any financial stress to your life.

Students can get their dental school paid for, allowing you to emerge from the Navy without any debt. Along with this, you may receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses as well as a signing bonus of up to $20,000.

Are you already a practicing dentist? In this case, you may be eligible for a sign-on bonus ranging from $75,000 to $300,000.

Do I Qualify?

If you want to qualify for Active Duty as a Navy Dental Officer you must meet the following requirements:

- United States citizen

- Graduate of a dental school that is approved by the American Dental Association

- Licensed to practice in the United States

- Willing to serve at least three years of Active Duty

- Between the ages of 18 and 48
