327th Infantry Trains New Iraqi PoliceSixty-Four Iraqi Citizens Graduate To New Iraqi Police Positions The need for quality trained Iraqi Police Officers continues to be high, and in that vein the Coalition troops in the area are beginning to ramp up training. There is a new two-week academy for Iraqi Citizens who wish to become Police Officers, and the training is being conducted in the town of Samarra. The Samarra Police Preparatory Academy is a brand new school began by soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry. Previously trained Iraqi Policemen who have been serving their communities successfully are being used as some of the instructors, and so far the efforts at the brand new training facility are moving forward well. “We are pleased to report that things are going so well,” said Sergeant Major Jeffrey England. Sgt. Major England is assigned to 327th Infantry, and one of the senior instructors for the new Academy. “We have quite a bit of healthy competition between the three training platoons, and this makes for an active, successful training effort,” said Sgt Major England. The training course is based on American Style training, and the recruits for the Iraqi Police positions are responding to the training well. The days begin early in the morning with physical training and calisthenics, and then breakfast followed by a full day of training and instruction. “We are seeing success, even in the early stages of our efforts here. The recruits are not horsing or playing around in the evening, when training ceases they are tired, ready for sleep,” said England.
