Leaders Gather With Military For Talks3rd Brigade Combat Team Commanders Meet With Iraqi Leaders

The leaders and Iraqi Military of the Mada In Qada region sat down for talks with members of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team recently. Colonel Wayne Grigsby Jr, the Commander of the 3rd BCT hosted the meeting at FOB Hammer to help discuss issues of security and rebuilding.

Members of the Iraqi National Army, Iraqi National Police, as well as civilian leaders from Mada In Qada were invited and attended the meeting. The meeting was to bring together the different elements of leadership from Coalition, civilian, and Iraqi Military sources together to get everyone on the same page involving goals for the region.

The Mayor of the Qada, Mushen Nasser spoke about how happy that the local residents are that the Iraqi Army is taking a larger role. “We are beginning to realize that the Iraqi Army is here to defend us, and along with the training and aid from the Coalition Soldiers, our citizens are beginning to take faith in them,” said Nasser.

The meeting was also to welcome the new Commander of the 9th Iraqi Army Division, Major General Kassim. General Kassim is new to the area and fresh to the Command of 9th IA division, and was warmly welcomed by the assembled leaders.

“This is not a effort of individuals, we are a team and work together,” said Kassim at the meeting. “This is a combined effort, there is no leadership singularly,” said Kassim.
