Coalition Troops Finish Brand New Courthouse Facility
For the First time since the fall of Saddam Hussein, Judges were able to return to Salman Pak. They are now able to use a brand new courthouse and emergency services building that were constructed by Coalition soldiers and Iraqi workers.
Colonel Ryan J. Kuhn welcomed the returning Judges to the new Facility. He oversaw much of the construction as the Deputy Commander of 3rd Brigade Combat Team, who worked on the facility since it’s beginning. Colonel Kuhn praised one of the returning Judges, Judge Hassen.
“You don’t often get to meet a real hero, you hear about them all the time,†said Colonel Kuhn. Judge Hassen was shot at the site of the old courthouse by insurgent agents, but is proud to return to a new courthouse, and a new chapter of law for Iraq.
Soldiers and leaders of the 3rd BCT team have worked hard on the new courthouse and emergency services building. The effort was to place all firefighting, police and court facilities in one central location, so a facility was designed, built and put into service.
“We feel that the new facility is safe and the area finally ready for you to return,†said Lieutenant Colonel Jack Marr. Lt. Colonel Marr is the Commander for 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry.

After the group of Judges toured the newly completed facility, the head investigative judge agreed it was ready for court. “There is a big difference now. Consider that the judges have now returned, provided we get our equipment we can be back in operation in a couple of days.†Said Iraqi Justice Razak.
