Raid By Joint Coalition And Iraqi Forces Yields Insurgents
FOB Hammer, Iraq-There have been a number of raids in recent weeks from Operating Base Hammer, into the area surrounding the base, and it has led to a number of discoveries of weapons and explosives.
But a recent raid this last week hit the jackpot.
A raid with joint soldiers from Iraqi and Coalition forces that took place in the early hours before dawn netted several insurgent suspects. All were arrested, and one of the men was discovered to be a high value terrorist target that has been sought for some time.
The suspected Terror captive has been sought because of links to explosives and attacks on coalition forces that have occurred over the last several months. He has been thought to be involved in smuggling explosives, IED devices and guns into the Narhwan region.
“Everything was great, it went off without a hitch,†said Captain Jared Albright, Commander of Troop B. Albright and his men are part of 10th Field Artillery, 1st Battalion, 1st Cavalry Regiment, and 3rd Squadron. Both Coalition forces and Iraqi Security forces have sought the man that was considered a High Value Target because of his role in several attacks.
“This was a really bad guy. It is a very good occurrence that we were able to find him and get him off the streets because he was directly causing a great number of injuries and deaths to the joint forces,†stated Captain Albright.

Working on another set of raids earlier this month, another High Value Target was also captured. This makes the number of such targets captured by Troop B at four. The Troop is made up mostly of Scouts that are serving on their first tour of duty in Iraq.
