2nd BCT Aids Water Purification InstallArab Jabour Receives New Clean Water Station Coalition soldiers have worked with local contractors to install and set up a new well water purification plant near Al Buaytha. Soldiers from the 415th Civil Affairs Battalion, 2nd BCT, Company A, worked for several months to rejuvenate and repair several wells in the area. Then they joined forces with Iraqi contractors to install the new water purification station. The new facility is able to provide up to 1000 liters of water each hour, and is designed to serve up to a 4000 kilometer region. While the new water station was being installed coalition troops also delivered water to the different neighborhoods in the Al Jabour region. Major Douglas Allan Betts is Commander of Company A, and sees the ongoing water recovery issue as part of coalition assistance efforts. “We want to make sure that the region is self sufficient in water provisions,” said Major Betts. Are you interested in an exciting career in the Military? See if you qualify. Click Here Now! Coalition Officers are working with local Iraq officials to identify regions and villages that still do not have enough water. The goal is to make sure that by the time that Coalition troops are withdrawn that each village has access to its own clean, pure source of drinking water. There are several methods of obtaining this solution. Some villages will be using water from wells, and others will be able to purify water taken from the local Tigris River.
