8th Cavalry Holds Joint Medical EngagementIraqi And Coalition Forces Join For Busayefi Treatment Clinic Forward Operating Base, Kalsu- In the first of a planned series of medical engagements was held in Busayefi, Iraq. Medical Personnel from 8th Cavalry Regiment, 6th Squadron worked together with Iraqi doctors to see scores of Iraqi civilian villagers. Over 260 Busayefi residents including 110 children were given medical treatment for rashes, pains, nausea and a number of other illnesses. All who were in attendance deemed the clinic a success. The region of Busayefi used to be one filled with insurgents and Al Qaeda members, and the road was filled with improvised explosives, which made travel to larger medical facilities close to impossible. Because of this it was first on the list to be included when Coalition forces decided to hold medical engagements in Iraq. Beginning in December of 2007 Coalition forces joined with citizen groups and Iraqi security forces to clear the area bit by bit. After the insurgents and Al Qaeda were forced out or captured, then the attention to the needs of the citizens began to be priority one, including medical needs. Are you interested in an exciting career in the Military? See if you qualify. Click Here Now! “We try to help the people as well as helping to identify what their ongoing medical requirements will be,” said 2nd Lieutenant Josh Duke. Lt. Duke is leader of the Medical Platoon for 6-8th Cavalry Regiment. With the continued efforts of the Sons of Iraq and Coalition soldiers the security condition is improving.
