Meals Ready To Eat And Drinking Water Donated
Recently the Iraqi Police were responding in mass to a series of citizen and insurgent situations, but they wound up being in a difficult situation.
The Policemen responded to some minor incidents, and imposed a curfew on the region of Al Kut. But in doing so the Iraqi Policemen ran into an unforeseen situation. Because they were some distance from their home base, they rely on local restaurants and food grocery stores for supplies.
Because they set forth a curfew, they found themselves without food or water and all stores closed, due to the curfew that they imposed to regain order.
All stores were closed and they didn’t have any food. So, they requested help from the Coalition forces. This is the first time that such a request has been made on the part of the Iraqi police, and the first time that such a situation had been encountered. “This is the first time that such a request was made to us,†said Sergeant Herbert Tulip. Sgt. Tulip is the senior enlisted officer for the 511th Military Police Company. Immediately upon the request the Coalition soldiers set about to help out.

Just over 2,000 meals and around 1,000 containers or bottles of drinking water were gathered up and delivered to the Iraqi Police Forces. These supplies were driven to the Iraqi Police mobilization location just outside of coalition FOB Delta.
These were Halal, or specific military rations of Meals ready to eat that meet Islamic diet laws.
“We just felt that helping them out was the right thing to do,†said Sgt Tulip.
In addition to the food supplies there were some miscellaneous medical supplies included by Coalition Forces. Five combat lifesaving packs and various bandage material were also delivered to the Iraqi Policemen. The policemen were very grateful to receive the supplies.
