It is an organization that gives free transportation for medical reasons to military Servicemembers, their families and dependants. They exist to give transportation to those most in need, for medical treatment or in support of medical treatment. It is a benefit that directly assists Servicemembers, their dependants, and their families, and it is available at no cost for those who qualify.
Veterans Angel Flight is a group of volunteer pilots and military supporters who work to organize and provide free transportation to military Servicemember patients, and Veterans who need to undergo medical treatment and do not have transportation. It is service for both active duty, reserves, retired and Veteran military Servicemembers, their dependants, and their families. It is a service support organization that has assisted thousands of patients travel to their destination for medical reasons over the years. It also supports family who needs to travel in support of a qualified patient. The Veterans Angel Flight Service exists, as needs based program; there are no financial qualifying factors other than a need to travel and a lack of resources to do so. Several pilots who wished to make sure that any Veteran or Servicemember, or their families started it and dependants that needed to travel for surgery or medical treatment, or in support of treatment would not be denied the chance to receive the treatment due to a lack of transportation. The program is administered and funded by donations, and is based through the National Veterans Patient Travel Center.

It is a registered not for profit group, and it works to try and not duplicate the efforts of other citizens, other charitable organizations, or patriotic groups. The Veterans Angel Flight program urges patients to travel by commercial means if they are able to afford to, otherwise they are happy to help provide necessary travel for those Servicemembers in need and their families. Finding the program online is easy, or you can access the program through the telephone. Multiple trips and multiple flights are sometimes necessary for those patients with extended treatment needs, such as cancer chemotherapy or radiation. It is those types of patients that especially benefit from the Angel Flight program.
