3rd ACR 1st Squadron Takes The Fight To Insurgency
Mosul is a city that is sometimes called the last terror stronghold in Iraq. It is the second largest city in Iraq, and has almost 2 million people in its borders. While combating the insurgency inside of Mosul is a challenge, the soldiers of the 3rd Armored Cavalry takes it in stride.
They pursue insurgents from Mosul outward to the outlying areas on a regular basis, and then set up to make sure that these selfsame insurgents do not return to the city. They work hard to keep the influx of supplies and fighters from gaining access back into Mosul.
“We work to disrupt the foreign fighter that would try to gain access back into the city, and we deny them a place to rest or to gather support,†said Major Matthew Dooly. Major Dooly is the Executive Officer of Tiger Squadron, 3rd ACR.
Tiger Squadron has been working in the Ninewah province area for about four months, and they have seen a tremendous amount of progress during that four months.

There are about 800 soldiers in Tiger Squadron, and they work to perform missions such as bridge security, presence foot patrols, and other interaction with local citizens to fight against the insurgency.
“We are going to keep the pressure up, attacking their safe havens,†said Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Dorame. Colonel Dorame is Tiger Squad Commander.
