Joint Security Forces Seize Large Weapons Cache
Iraqi Army and Coalition Forces worked together to transport a large weapons cache that was turned over last Thursday as a result of an informants tip.
An insurgent was questioned and revealed that he might know about a bunch of buried weapons. The insurgent did not actually know the location of the weapons, but he did know someone that did.
His own brother.
His brother was soon apprehended and then the location of the weapons was revealed. “We were very lucky, the weapons cache itself was very large, and left unseized it would have done a great deal of damage,” said Sgt Ronald Satterwhite. Sergeant Satterwhite is a weapons expert with 3rd infantry division.
A large amount of weapons were discovered when a group of insurgents was chased away from a safehouse. One insurgent lagged behind, and appeared to be running halfheartedly, almost like he wanted to be caught. It turns out that this insurgent was trying to avoid capture and return for the weapons, or at least to join up with his brother and then head for the weapons.

While the soldiers were waiting for an Explosives weapons removal team to arrive they found out that the two informants were eager to trade more information for perhaps release or better treatment. The coalition did not give either, but did learn the location of four more large weapons caches nearby.
All together there were estimated to be close to a ton of explosives, ammunition and various guns. It was the single largest haul of illegal weapons since the first of the year.
