Health Fair Held At Grand Opening Of Middle School
It was a wonderful experience for many of the citizens in Adwaniyah who previously had been too scared to leave their homes. The members of the 3rd Infantry, 4th BCT, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 6th Squadron, Troop B has conducted a health fare and medical clinic this last week, to celebrate the new security and to also host the grand opening of a middle school.
The rebuilding effort helped to rebuild the school itself, and also the health clinic that previously occupied the site. Both had been destroyed in some of the heaviest fighting that occurred previously. Soldiers were able to rebuild this clinic with funds from the Emergency Commanders Response program. Funds from this program often allow immediate situations that need attention to be dealt with instead of waiting for the bureaucracy and red tape to catch up. The soldiers who responded and staffed the clinic were from Patrol Base Dolby, which is very close to Adwaniyah itself.

Gradually as the security situation has improved the Iraqi people have started to take more responsibility for their own communities. The troops are very encouraged to see the schools and education provisions for the youth being rebuilt.
“The children will grow up and someday inherit this whole country,†said 2nd Lieutenant Steven Kim. Lieutenant Kim is Troop B Platoon Commander.
The rebuild clinic will offer basic types of medical care, such as vaccinations, maternity care, and treat other minor injuries and basic illness. It will also refer people when needed to hospitals in Baghdad and Malmudiyah.
