Coalition Trains National Iraqi Army Force

Overall Performance Excellent Declares General Swan

The work to train and transform the Iraqi National Army and National police into a fighting and trained force has been largely completed. Coalition trainers have worked with the Iraqi Security forces over the last year, and they have been very pleased with the progress overall.

The Army of Iraq has been transformed into a force that is truly national, and deployed across the entire country in support of the ongoing Iraqi Government mission. They have gained a significant level of professionalism and a combat capability that many did not anticipate would occur this swiftly.

“Make no mistake, the Iraqi Army has transformed itself into a national force, and is a national Army,” said Army Brigadier General Robin Swan. General Swan is the Coalition Army Training Advisory commander. “It was over a year go that we started the process, we could not have imagined the progress that would be in effect now, a year later,” said General Swan.

General Swan held a press conference with Iraqi Army General Babakir, and both cited the positive achievements of the Iraqi forces throughout Iraq at large. Both talked of how the Iraqi Army has grown into a capable, mobile Army force.

“We moved a division of soldiers to Basra in under five days,” said General Babakir. “We are proud because to so that would be a challenge to any Army in the World,” said Babakir.
