Coalition Trains Chemical Teams

Iraqi And Coalition Forces Work In Joint Operations

Working and training in Iraq is not just the normal Warfighting and battle, there are also situations where coalition troops train to make sure those other conditions and situations are prepared for. Coalition troops give training and work to drill regarding biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, which are all potential threats on today’s battlefield. Each of the U.S. Armed services have members that are specially trained in unconventional warfare hazards

The Marine has the CBRN Marine detachment with Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 3. They remain and train with the Army at the Al Asad Air base to make sure that they are prepared and ready should unconventional warfare be employed.

Coalition troops work to train both on their team, but also working with Army members and members of the Joint Forces Iraqi National Army. The Iraqi members are volunteers, and are mainly there to observe but eventually will receive the training and equipment to form their own counter biological and unconventional warfare units.

The Army 82nd Airborne Division, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, are not currently a CBRN unit and so the joint training engaged in with the Marines allows both units to benefit from the experiences of the other. It helps with hands on training and allows soldiers from both units to focus on their training and military occupational specialties.
