Iraqi National Policemen Assist In Joint Effort
The needs of the Iraqi Community in which soldiers serve within are becoming the front line consideration, now that the overall security in the region is more under control. The community around the Rashid District in the north part of Baghdad benefited recently from a free medical clinic that was held.
Coalition troops from Joint Security Station Doura worked mostly to observe and supervise as Iraqi medics and personnel provided a free medical screening. The Iraqi soldiers spend the greater part of their time providing security with the mullhallas in south Baghdad, but they took time to provide a gesture of goodwill and sponsored a citizen medical clinic for local residents. The event took place over three days and the medical staff was 100 percent Iraqi, working out of the medical facility at Joint Station Security Doura. More than 100 patients were treated.
Gifts of medical supplies and food were also given to the villagers as they waited to be seen for various minor medical issues. Each of the prospective patients was given an interview and medical screening, and then had an opportunity to talk to the NP brigade doctors. Most of the ailments were minor scrapes, colds and flu.
The Iraqi National Police 7th police Brigade is planning a series of ongoing free medical clinics to be held at the JSS Doura site each month. This will be a reoccurring program to help the government of Iraq as well at the local citizens.
