3rd Infantry Conducts Medical Clinic

Arab Jabour Youth Attend Event

The coalition soldiers that work in and around FOB Base Kalsu stopped long enough to help sponsor a medical clinic for the citizens and children of Arab Jabour. The clinic was one of a series that has been sponsored by the 30th Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion. There were a number of minor diseases diagnosed, mostly colds and influenza type disease was found

One young lad, a boy by the name of Ali Jamel Ali was given a back brace to assist him with his spine. Soldiers from the 101st Airborne, 3rd Infantry Division, 2nd BCT, 1-30th Infantry Regiment assisted with company surgeons and medical staff to run the clinic, which was set up in a vacant building in Arab Jabour.

The young boy has tuberculosis, but was given medication and referred to Baghdad for additional treatment by doctors there. Tuberculosis can attack the large bone structures in the body, such as the spine.

The spine gets a condition called Potts disease when it is attacked by a condition such as Tuberculosis. The medication along with the treatment that Ali received in Baghdad will fix him up, and clear up the possibility of developing a curved spine. The back brace will help until Ali can fully heal.

“The soldiers from America have done mighty things for us,” said Jamel Ali Khudayr said. Mr. Ali Khudayr is the father of Ali Jamel Ali.
