Natives Learn English With Aid From Coalition Soldiers The efforts of coalition troops have been felt in the numerous rebuilding projects that have been worked on in the region of Hillah, but there have also been interpretation and translation classes that have been set up to assist local Iraqi Citizens with learning English. This is an effort to help those members of the Iraqi public who wish to learn English get a chance to do so. “It’s a very positive interaction on our part, as it is for them we hope,” said Kim Sonn. Mr. Sonn is the diplomacy and public affairs officer with the Provincial Reconstruction Team. Many of the younger Iraqi people do not get a chance to talk to soldiers as much as their elders, so the classes give them a chance to practice their English in a supportive and non concretive atmosphere. Two English teachers, and five Iraqi Students attended an English Day program that was offered recently at the embassy regional office for the United States in Al Hillah. This gave 15 english language students and around 15 faculty and staff from the nearby Babil province an opportunity to practice their conversational English skills. Are you interested in an exciting career in the Military? See if you qualify. Click Here Now! This is a great opportunity for students to mingle and work on their English presentation. It is a productive and upbeat situation for English practice and one that takes the pressure off the student and makes it into more of a fun situation.
