Reconstruction Soldiers Aid School With Connectivity
As the security in Iraq has gotten better the emphasis has been on assisting and aiding in the reconstruction and rebuilding. As part of that effort there has been an effort to help schools connect to the Internet. In the Wasit province there is an initiative by the Wasit Provincial Reconstruction team to try and get schools connected to the Internet. The effort is called the Access to Information, and it is a yearlong program designed to try and get as many schools as possible signed up.
The program has began with a new center of computer Internet studies at the Al Kut Girls Secondary school, which was successfully connected on March 10th, and then Open University was able to be connected on April 18th. There has been a excellent response from the students and citizens, and it has helped draw the citizens and the schools closer together.

The 14 July Boys School received Internet connectivity on April 20th. There are several more schools scheduled to be connected in the coming weeks, and the program is working well in its goal toward total area regional connectivity.
The Internet center at the Open University is designed to serve up to 1,000 different teachers, and will serve as a center of training and learning for an English instructor course taught online by instructors from the University of Oregon.
