One of the incentive benefits for joining the Army is the PaYS program, or Partnership for Army Youth Success. It is a program to assist Servicemembers with their job opportunities after they are in the military, after separation. The program is a fairly new one, but it has proven to be very successful. Many Fortune 500 and large corporations participate and benefit from the PaYS program, and it is a particularly effective way of helping young solders with their employment opportunities after they are separated from the Army. The program is fairly simple. Companies that participate with the PaYS program sit down and forecast their projected growth, and future needs for employees. They submit these figures to the Army. When a new recruit or enlistee Servicemember signs up, they select their job MOS, term of enlistment, associated incentives and other details. They are also given a chance to choose a potential job with a PaYS partner. The Army and the Enlistee enters into a Statement of Understanding type agreement, which the enlistee signs. A copy is provided to the enlisted Servicemember. In this way companies and future jobs are matched with those people who enlist and seek employment in a certain job or specialty. The promise that the PaYS company agrees give is to interview the potential candidate after they get out of the Army, provided the candidates is otherwise qualified, provided a job vacancy exists, and provided the Servicemember is leaving the Army with a honorable discharge. The Army Servicemember benefits with the knowledge that they can join the Army and target a MOS that will give them skills and training for future civilian employment with their PaYS partner company. The PaYS Company employer benefits with a continuing supply of potential employees who have been given training in the Army that will benefit the company, the candidate is given skills that will make them valuable assets to the parent PaYS program employer.
