3rd Armored Cavalry Aids Police Recruiting

Christians And Others Sign Up For Iraqi Police

There were many applications for the jobs that are available with the Iraqi Police. In the past the jobs have gone begging, but now that the security and safety in the region has gotten so much better in the area to the north of Mosul, the positions for the Iraqi Police have began to be more highly valued. Over 30 men lined up for the most recent recruiting drive held at the station in Tall Kayf, which is located about 15 kilometers from Mosul. The local Iraqi police held a three day recruiting drive to locate and hire new members of the police force.

This particular effort was being made to recruit Iraqi Christians to join the police force. Christians were being sought so that officers who are the same nationality and who are Christians can patrol Christian areas, which causes both the police and the community to feel more at ease. There is little current representation of Christian Iraqi police members, and this recruiting drive was an effort to attract and hire Iraqi Christians as police officer.
