Joint Forces Work To Reopen School Facility
Leaders of the Salman Pak region joined together with the 1-15th Infantry Regiment, various other Coalition units, and units of the Iraqi Army to celebrate the reopening of the Salman Pak school. The coalition worked to repair and rebuild the school following the beginning of the $200,000 dollar project that starts February 28th. The leadership and council of Salman Pak brought the school up to the coalition forces, as a possible project for them to work on.
After the coalition worked on the school, the local leaders slowly began to chip in and get involved in the renovation process. The overall educational facilities were improved, and the leaders and council members began to become involved in the actual renovation project.

“We wanted to find a larger school to work on to make a big impact,” said Captain Matt Givens. Captain Givens is the Operations Military officer for the 1-15th Regiment. The school at Salman Pak is the only female secondary school in the region and was in very poor condition before the renovation. The restrooms were totally broken and there was no electricity.
The rebuilding project completely overhauled the building, structural damage was fixed and a security wall was rebuilt, electrical wiring was replaced and overall plaster was done over the entire structure.
The septic tank system was rebuilt and the concrete courtyard was installed.
