Sadr City Receives New Facility To aid Security
Working to make sure an entire city has the services and infrastructure it needs to prosper is a hard task, but one that the Government of Iraq is working diligently to try and develop. In some neighborhoods of Sadr City the activities that keep a city going and its heart pumping have been stopped up for some time, clogged and unable to function. Slowly, as such areas are being identified, this is changing.
Coalition Forces helped open a Joint Security Station located in Sadr City, to work with the local government to help all of the residents of northeast Baghdad. It is a joint operations center to allow the Coalition to train and assist personnel in government and security operations, and then eventually withdraw allowing Iraqi Forces to fully be in control and run the operations.
“This new CMOC has been set up to help make civil and military operations between all the joint forces players work well,†said Major Brian Horine. Major Horine is the 3rd BCT, 4th Infantry Civil Affairs officer.

The new joint Security Station is a basic block constructed concrete facility that is right now staffed by joint coalition and Iraqi forces team members, as well as representatives from the local government, and members from the local US Force ePRT reconstruction team.
