2nd Stryker Cavalry Aids Abu T’Shir Area

Security And Safety Primary For Citizens

The duty for the members of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry is variable, some days it involves just the foot patrol, going from place to place in the community of Abu T’Shir, while other days the soldiers may be connecting with the villagers, knocking on doors, or just talking about local politics with the citizens. This sidetrack down relative peace and quiet is a welcome respite for the soldiers of the MNF division who have been stationed here for the last 8 months.

The soldiers of the 4th Infantry Division, 2nd Stryker Cavalry regiment, 2nd Squadron, Company F have been enjoying the chance to build interpersonal contact between themselves and the members of the community. This has been a period of consensus building, as well as an uptake on interpersonal relations. They have had a chance to get to know different members of the community and become known themselves, fostering trust relationships among the citizens.

“We ideally want to have the local citizens have connections with us, and to also enjoy a positive and normal type lifestyle,” said Lieutenant Colonel Scott Reineke. Colonel Reineke is the 2nd Stryker Cav Regiment Commander.

Originally the 2nd Stryker Cav Regiment was stationed at Vilseck Germany, and they were sent to Iraq as part of the “surge,” which has for the most part been a rousing success. The 2nd Stryker unit will hand over responsibility to 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st BCT, 4th Infantry in late May.
