Pakistan has been under much criticism for the recent activities that have taken place within the country. This comes after General Musharraf has decided that there will be a state of emergency that has been declared with the country, which has been much to the dismay of many civil world leaders, including President Bush. In an attempt to have the General reconsider his actions, President Bush sent Condoleezza Rice to Pakistan in the hope that there will be some form of communication lines that will open up and allow the General to possibly reconsider the United States’ effort for wanting to assist the country with their governmental rulings and legislation.
Although Ms. Rice made the trip to Pakistan and indeed spoke with Mr. Musharraf, there still remains no future for the possibility of peace talks, greatly hindering the actions that need to take place between the American and Pakistani governments. Due to this, the US Military has decided to suspend the talks that they have been having with Musharraf, which will remain indefinite for the immediate time being. This can be detrimental for the United States, who may have to push troops into Pakistan to assist with any impeding Al Qaeda actions that may come as a result of the currently enacted state of emergency. United State government officials are concerned; however, they know that they are still capable of being able to push troops into the area if need be. The recent meetings have concluded all possibilities of peace talks for the future.
