Teamwork Keeps 3rd Aviation Rolling

Maintenance Soldiers Work As Close Knit Team

One of the advantages of working in Iraq with a close-knit platoon is the sense of teamwork and job accomplishment that you realize. Such is the case with the soldiers from 3rd Aviation Regiment, 4th battalion, Company E. The platoon is tasked for maintenance of trucks, generators trailers and various vehicles, as well as other types of ground support equipment within the battalion. They are responsible to keep up with both the scheduled maintenance on all the battalion equipment as well as to deal with the different repair and unscheduled maintenance tasks that come up.

“If we have a vehicle that breaks down we go out and get it, repair it and return it,” said Chief Warrant Officer Two David Jeannotte. CWO2 Jeannotte is the battalion head technician for maintenance for Company E. The 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade has been in country in Iraq for about a year now, and to their credit the maintenance platoon has completed 2300 work orders as well as a number of scheduled service calls.

The 98 percent readiness rating that the battalion has kept is not just for show, either.

The platoon is known for its flexibility and the discipline of the soldiers that make up the unit. “My soldiers are willing to grow and learn, and they change as the situation calls for it, they are some of the most versatile people I have had the privilege of working with,” said Staff Sergeant Kipatrick Jackson. Sgt. Jackson is the senior Non-commissioned officer with the platoon.
